Photography

I love seeing the world through a camera lens and capturing random things that awaken my consciousness whether it be beautiful and joyful things or ugly and sad things. I have nothing, no fancy lenses, tripods or other equipments, beside a basic DSLR camera, which has been putting up with my poor photography skills through all these years.

It was over 2 years ago when I got my hands on a DSLR camera. Leading up to buying my first DSLR camera, my digital point and shoot camera suddenly died on me one day after years of abuse by my snappy personality. By then, my interests in cooking and food photography had grown too big to ignore, but I wasn’t sure it was worth forking out big cash for what could be just a passing interest; I didn’t give much credit to my skills then.

So I bought a low-end Canon just to play with to see if it would fire up the artistic side of me. And I took off to Europe for a two-month trip with the new camera in hand, which wasn’t really a good idea, come to think of it, as I wasn’t fully comfortable with it, not knowing how to use it properly. So unfortunately I missed some excellent photo opportunities while travelling and, to make it wors, my camera had a problem with the battery and kept giving me an error message. Anyhow, my camera and I survived the trip, which is slowly fading into an old memory, making me sad, but the photos I took during the solo trip are the reminder of how beautiful and exciting the world I’m living in is, how the world is full of delicious things to eat and interesting and generous people to meet.

I posted some of my favourite photos on the Flickr right after my return from Europe, but sadly they don’t get enough attention they deserve. So I’m trying to compile some good photos from the past now that I have a new laptop that can do some decent work without throwing me into frustration.

There are yummy photos.

There are also beautiful photos….

And there are weird photos like these, too….

You must have figured out by now that I have a fetish for wine glasses…

Don’t forget there are plenty of artistic photos as well…

These photos are all part of me, who I am, why I am what I am, and what I’m going to become…whether they are good or bad. It is interesting to keep track of how my photography skills change over time and fascinating to see how different tools and technology affect the final image of a photo.

I hope you enjoy the photos from my past and more photos to be shared here in the days, months and years to come, as long as I eat, cook, dream, laugh and cry.

Thank you for dropping by.
